Clothing items made out of Granny Squares have become quite popular lately. So, for the past two years I have made two granny square cardigans for my needle crafts 4-H projects.

Have you ever been itching to crochet something, and you just can’t find a free pattern? Well, I have been down that rabbit hole too, don’t worry. In this post, I will list some free patterns that I have found along my crochet journey, and some books I have made crochet items from.
The first pattern on this list is a flower bookmark from daisycottagedesigns.net. I made these bookmarks for my brother’s girlfriend, and she still uses them 🙂
This next pattern is a crochet bunny from mahumcrochets.blogspot.com. I made this as a Christmas present for my cousin who loves rabbits.
These next patterns are from a crochet book called, “Whimsical Stitches” by Lauren Espy. The photo below includes a piece of pie, a blueberry, and a strawberry from this book. (I didn’t use a pattern for the basket because I just free-handed it)
This pattern, Callie the Cat, is from another crochet book titled, “Crochet Cute Critters” by Sarah Zimmerman.

An easy way to learn how to crochet is through crochet kits. Although there are many different brands, they all have many similarities whether it be stuffed animals, or amigurumi which is how I learned how to crochet.
I have tried out a few of these kits, and they mostly have easy to read instructions. I have tried kits from Woobles, Red Heart, and some that are from other online sources. I have some pictures below that show the photos from some of these kits.
In my opinion, the easiest patterns to read were from the Woobles and Red Heart. Your opinions might be different, but this is just my experience with these patterns 🙂
